Some employers have outside workers that still must do their jobs or the operation comes to a halt. This is just bad for business. It goes this way in the hot temperatures of summer and the freezing cold of the winters. Some people have no choice but to brave the cold weather as it is part of their jobs.
These outside workers must face ice, snow, and freezing cold temperatures. It makes me cold just thinking about it! How do they stay warm?
It makes you wonder, “Why do they do it?” Most of them would tell you they have no choice. It is either do this or get fired which isn’t an option for most workers. When asked some of these same workers loved the thrill and challenge of the daily weather. Most of them love to help others. This usually over rides extreme temperatures of hot and cold. Some of the outside professions are mailmen/women, road and transportation workers, delivery drivers, oilfield workers, etc. Across the Midwest there are lots of people today who need help as an unusually long stretch of brutally cold weather, sub zero temperatures have causes a dozen deaths. Make sure your company is up to speed on the liability of taking care of your outside worker’s fleet vehicles, break policies, accident policies, etc. Make sure and your employees are protected! You don’t want to be left out in the cold per say.
